It provides a grade of lysine called USP, which is the quality used in nutrition products applied to clinical studies. Lysine is an essential amino acid and in this product it is presented in a free and easily absorbed form.
It has a potential antiviral, antiosteoporotic, cardiovascular and lipid-lowering effect. It also promotes the absorption of calcium and is essential for the production of carnitine and the formation of collagen. A potential beneficial effect against mucositis has also been described, helping to improve tissue function and immune function.
Lysine Properties
Inhibition of Herpes Simplex Virus Growth: L-lysine chemically resembles arginine, which is vital to the structure of Herpes Simplex. By supplementing with lysine, the virus uses it instead of arginine, which stops its replication and reduces infectious symptoms. It also reduces the frequency of oral herpes attacks and helps in acute attacks.
Essential in the structural formation of collagen (main component of connective tissue); responsible for the strength of tendons, ligaments, blood vessel walls, skin, and other tissues.
Reduces the adherence of lipoproteins associated with the risk of heart disease, which is why it is preventive and also useful in the treatment of atherosclerosis: it reduces the fats attached to the walls of the arteries, which reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, improves exercise tolerance and recovery.
L-carnitine precursor. Helps in the synthesis of L-carnitine along with methionine, vitamins C, B6 and niacin and iron. Carnitine helps the heart muscle use oxygen more efficiently
Improves the assimilation of calcium in the small intestine. Therefore it has anti-osteoporotic activity.
It appears to be of importance in the treatment of androgenic alopecia. Increasing the effectiveness of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) blockers, which are used in these treatments.
L-lysine acts as a serotonin receptor antagonist, competing with these receptors and reducing serotonin levels, thus reducing anxiety and contractions of the intestinal wall muscles caused by stress. L-lysine deficiency increases anxiety.
It is an important factor in iron fixation, at the level of serum ferritin.
