The White Willow (Salix alba L.) is a plant that belongs to the Salicaceae family and contains numerous active principles, such as wax, gum, tannins, flavonoids, molecules called popolulin and naringin, phenolic glycosides and salicitannic acid. Specific parts of the plant are used, in this case the bark that has a higher concentration of active principles and its application is mainly recommended in the presence of strong cooling states, feverish increase, pain caused by rheumatism.
Spirea ulmaria (Filipéndula ulmaria Max.) Has sudorific properties in the presence of fever and analgesic against joint pain, but it also has a high diuretic action, indicated in rheumatic diseases. The main active principles of the plant are phenolic glycosides (monotropitin and spirein), essential oil, flavonoids and tannins. If it is used applying the recommended doses, its presence is well tolerated in the organism; in fact there are no scientific studies documenting particular side effects.
The Quina (Cinchona succirubra Pav.) Has a bark of a typical red or brown color, with a very rough surface marked by hollows, rich in leaves that over time, assume the same color. The active principles present are diverse, but very rich above all in tannins and substances called quinolic alkaloids, which can later be subdivided into quinine, quinidine and cinchonidine. These elements of the bark of the plant make it possible to stimulate antipyretic, antimalarial, antidyspeptic actions. All this contributes to its recommendation in cases of flu-like states, digestive slowness, asthenia. It is a strong antibacterial and an antifermentative that can act on the digestive system, stimulating its motility and the secretion of gastric juices and saliva.
The essential oil of Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla L.), for its relaxing and calming properties, is usually used in cases of stress, anxiety, insomnia and gastrointestinal problems and skin irritations.
