Olive leaves are an example of a plant used in cases of non-severe hypertension. These leaves, thanks to a mechanism that provide a dilation of the peripheral vessels, but without causing a depressive action on the heart, determine a decrease in the tensor value. Secondarily, the hypotensive effect is also found by an increase in diuresis with a slight increase in the fluidity of the blood, lowering its viscosity and thus circulating more easily.
Passionflower is a plant belonging to the Passionflower family, a painkiller used in the presence of strong anxious states that can cause cardiac erethism, that is, the appearance of palpitations and tachycardia. It contains flavonoids that act on the nervous system, at the level of the spinal cord, where the movement and sleep control centers reside. Due to its particular properties, it is very similar to the hawthorn plant, with which it is usually associated in myocardial healing and in all manifestations of spastic pain.
The hawthorn, in effect, has the ability to increase the blood flow that reaches the myocardium and coronary arteries. In this way, it guarantees a better resistance of the heart to the decrease in oxygen, a condition called anoxia. This effect is achieved by dilating and relaxing the involuntary smooth muscles of the coronary vessels; in this way, it achieves a hypotensive effect since it will decrease peripheral resistance. In addition to this, hawthorn is able to increase heart rate by direct action on the myocardium.
