L-carnitine is a non-essential amino acid since our body is capable of synthesizing it in the liver and kidneys from the amino acids L-lysine and L-methionine.
L-carnitine is found primarily in muscle and plays an important role in fat metabolism, contributes to the oxidation of fatty acids and their transport to the mitochondria where they are processed and converted into a source of energy, it is considered a fat burning molecule.
