Coconut oil has a very interesting fatty oil composition: approximately 2/3 of its fatty acids are medium chain - MCT (Medium Chain Triglycerides), among which lauric acid stands out, which is also present in milk maternal.
MCTs are absorbed directly by the intestinal mucosa, this absorption favors the rapid transformation into non-esterified free fatty acids that enter the liver through the portal vein where their energy use (9 kcal / g) is faster and they do not reach generate fat deposits.
