Our little story NaturBrush Team, Happy Smile - Happy Planet
The birth of Naturbrush was like one of those little things that you stumble upon almost unintentionally but that make a big impact. The amount of waste that we throw into the sea has reached such a scale that there are islands of plastic plying the seas. This plastic ends up obstructing the digestive system of many species that are decisive in the natural balance of the planet.
What to do about this? Having reached your thirties and fatherhood has been released, you ask yourself questions about the world around you; on what world are you going to leave your children. Irremediably, faced with this, you have to take action. But how? You work the night shift in a medium-sized company and there is not much free time. Nor does a single person have a wide range of action to combat something of such magnitude. At home we separate the waste, each thing is deposited in its corresponding container, but it is still not enough.
It was in another small gesture that the light bulb was turned on. There, in front of the bathroom mirror, with my (plastic) toothbrush in hand, that was when everything started to flow. How many people brush their teeth every day? It is an exercise that is repeated three times a day at least and it is a utensil that must be renewed every three months. How many tons of plastic thrown into the trash does that mean?
Recalling a phrase by Galeano came the idea for NaturBrush, the first Spanish brand of biodegradable toothbrushes: "Many small people in small places, doing small things can change the world."
The result is a light and natural product, a small change in our daily life that can configure great long-term achievements. Its manufacture in bamboo does not deforest spaces, in addition, its cultivation contributes to increase the global forest mass thanks to a rapid and vigorous growth. In six weeks the bamboo can reach 30 meters in height, for which a Mediterranean pine would need several decades.
